Single young women….
Praise Jesus for your singleness! I’ve been wanting to write something for a while to just say, praise God for you. Really. You have no idea what a beautiful season this is in your life. This time in your life where there is no guy by your side is such a blessing (though maybe in disguise.)
I know that the internet and magazines are bombarded with weddings these days. Weddings this, and weddings that. Not to mention baby blogs everywhere and wedding DIYs and ideas galore. I remember during my single years (I say that like I’m 100 or something) how badly I wanted to be dating or courting someone. I have totally been there, done that. I remember looking around at different friends and people I knew who were dating and yet I found myself on friday nights in the bookstore coffee shop, reading and writing….alone.
If you are reading this and still waiting for “the one” all I can say is, it is worth it. Keep pressing on to Jesus and continue using this time to know Him more. I can look back now and I am SO thankful…so, so thankful that I used that time in my life to pursue Christ. Because ya know what? Now I rarely have time to sit alone, read my bible, and spend hours in worship and prayer. My attention is divided between my husband and my little boy who I am constantly chasing after. (I’m grateful for worship music and those little prayers throughout the day to get me through!) Those single years of studying his word, reading about how to prepare myself as a wife and one day as a mom. God obviously blessed us with a son super soon and I was able to use those years prior for good.
Thank you, for being set-apart. The world needs more young women like that. Thank you for standing up for purity. For keeping a pure heart and being an example of His light and love. The world needs those who are willing to stand and sometimes even wait for the best. It is so worth it, friends!! May the Lord bless you during this time and keep pressing on to know Him more. Much love!!

Hi Arielle!
Thanks so much for posting this~ it really means a lot! As a single young woman, it is hard sometimes to notice that you’re getting older all the time and not promised to anyone yet. I know the feeling! Especially since plenty of my friends are getting/have gotten married this last year. But that’s not to say that I’m not happy in my life right now, or that I’m moping around~ I’m just waiting contentedly, knowing that all things have their place in time, and God’s timing is always right. Thank you so much again for encouraging us all to just wait patiently. You’re a blessing!!!

This post is the most encouraging blog entry that I’ve read in a long time. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your thoughts! Even though I’m only sixteen, this was an incredible reminder for me to not take these precious single years for granted. Now is the time for me to be growing closer to the Lord and to be preparing to be a wife and mother one day.
Would you mind if I linked to this post on my blog?
God Bless!

This kind of thing has been on my heart as of late. I’m a single gal and have learned to embrace my singleness ever since I truly found my identity in who God is. I know He loves me and is for me. And truthfully, sometimes I think too much about my future husband and I get caught up in the “wait”. And when that happens, I always stumble upon posts like these: the ones that push me back into God’s loving arms and into the secret place where I get to be fixed up and be able to find myself in Him.
So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for pushing me back into my secret place with God. I know He has “the one”, and reading this has reminded me how much I need to focus on the God that I want in a man instead of focusing on a man of God.
You’re lovely and truly anointed! God bless you!

As a single woman, thank you. THANK YOU. i wish i could drive down from michigan and give you the biggest hug in thanks, but even that wouldn’t be enough.
you are the first person i know – well, besides the apostle Paul, haha – who has said that being single is a good thing. your first paragraph is such, SUCH encouragement to me.

I have those same words hidden in my heart too! I spent my first 18 years of life as a single girl & it was such a blessing in disguise. I am SO grateful that I waited for the man that God had chosen for me.
Keep praying & worshipping, girls. God’s timing is the very best timing.
Love, Leigh

I learned through my experiences…that if you cannot be happy alone with yourself…..Being a good partner to someone else is surely going to bring you hardship….Don’t look so hard for someone to love…..My hubby accidentally “hit me in the face” over 20 years ago….been married 17…..Good things come to those who wait….. I really needed this encouragement. Being at a bible university, it feels like everyone’s just waiting to get engaged so their lives can start. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to marry Greg, and I hope to! But what I really need are sisters in Christ to support the decision to live where I’m at right now. To try to serve him as well as I can in the life that God’s given me here. Thanks for being one of those!
Mary says
I definitely needed this encouragement! Especially going to a Bible University, sometimes it feels like ring by spring is taking over my life. Even though people are trying to be helpful, what I really need right now are sisters in Christ who will encourage me to serve God where I am at the moment. Thanks for being one of those women…even if it is through the blogosphere!
Nicole says
Thank you for the encouragement! You are so right – between blogs, pinterest and magazines, being single can become hard. And desiring a mate seems like it gets more and more intense. But you are so right – spending this time with Christ is undeniably the best part of being single. I’ve learned that over the last year and a half and am enjoying it :)

Arielle, this means so much! Thank you for sharing your heart on singleness to encourage us single young women. I know many people in relationships and many are getting engaged. The older I get (which I’m only 19 so I’m not even that old) the more and more often I am bombarded with everything to do with weddings and getting married. I’ve finally decided to choose to be content in this season of life and wait patiently for God’s timing for meeting the right man.
Thanks again!
God bless,
Jess

I needed this tonight. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this…it’s so encouraging and so uplifting to have this message reinforced again. It’s hard sometimes at this age…surrounded by couples and weddings and everything, but I know the wait will be oh so worth it.
Kristin says
Thank YOU for being such a champion to those who are single and desire to embrace that season in their life. Many people mean well, but tend to push the singles they know toward marriage, whether it’s intended or not. You, on the other hand, have always been encouraging to me (and others) concerning this season of my life and I’m very blessed to have a friend like you who understands the value of being single. :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Amen haha. I am a single gal myself and don’t want to “settle” for anyone or anything I’m not totally happy with. But that get’s hard sometimes seeing everyone around me falling in love and finding their happy ever afters. But this post right here is just what I needed to read! I cannot wait to fall in love and start a family. But until then I need to focus on my relationship with Jesus. He will lead me. So thank you for writing this and reminding me I’m never really alone and that this really is a special time in my life.
nichole says
As I opened your blog today i was talking to a friend about how waiting for the best is so hard when everyone around me is telling me that settling for just okay is enough. Thank you for this post. This just made my night. God is using you in mighty ways. God bless
Eleanor Rigby says
Hey ladies.
I always hear these reminders as a single lady moving away from a broken heart. I agree with you on using the time that God has given us as singles. I remember a friend of mine talking about singleness as he just had got married and the translation between the two. He was saying how he could no longer just go out at two in the morning to go make a fire in the woods and worship God and just chill with him – his wife would just wake up frantically wondering were he was! He could never go alone on a mission trip where his life is in danger because his wife would be worried. He was able to do all those things before his marriage. When ever dangerous missions would come up, he would gladly volunteer because he knew that everyone else was married and had a wife and children. He now is in another season, a session with his wife and God is beginning to use that. (One that youre talking from)
I agree with so many other girls on how hard this can all be. I think we just have to move away from these thoughts and focus on building friendships and a solid foundation in Christ. We have to trust in Him and know that He works all good into those that love Him and that He knows the plans He has for us,, for He made us, He knitted us into our very being. He looks after the birds? How could He not want whats best for us?
And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?
x

Aw, your such a precious thing in my life. I actually just went through my first relationship type encounter. And the Lord lead me to confront the other party and totally blessed me with HIS peace and is just teaching me how to rely and love Him more each day. Such a blessing to read your words. I don’t know if the thoughts about being married someday ever go away? And I don’t know how to stop thinking about them but I know that GOD loves me and has a great plan for me and I hope and pray that I can really focus and seek Him during this time.

What a beautiful letter of encouragement to the single ladies out there! I recently got married in the past year and I’ve realized how much things are different now. Married life is wonderful but single years should never be taken for granted either! I will definitely be sharing this lovely post with some of my friends!! ^_^

Amen! I’m always trying to encourage my single friends to enjoy this time! I love being married with every ounce of my being, but there are so many amazing things about being single. So many possibilities and things God can do in your life that He can’t if you are married. So enjoy it lovely women! Soak up the freedom to travel and the endless ways God wants to use you in this stage in your life! Well written Arielle.

Thank you so, so, so much Arielle. I’m only 15, but already I’ve found myself pining for a man in my life, and this article was a wonderful reminder that my singleness is in fact a blessing!! What a fabulous encouragement. THANK YOU!!

Thank you so much for writing this; it’s such an encouragment. I often need to be reminded of what I need to be doing, now, during my single years. Thank you. :)

It has been so incredibly uplifting to read this. Often times it feels like you know your single for a time for a purpose, but sometimes remembering seems so hard to do. I say this at 19, already learning the feeling of being left behind being single. It’s so encouraging to know that it’s not just “worth the wait”, but that the wait is beautiful too. Thank you so much for writing this, it is making such a positive impact.

Thank you so much for this post!! I read it back when you first posted it and it means more now than it did then. I am seventeen and have been single forever. I know it is in God’s plan for me to wait, but sometimes it is hard (more now than ever) to not have that sweet companion that all the other girls your age have. It is great encouragement to hear these words that lift me up in this time of continued singleness… Thanks!
