It is crazy to think that Leland will be two in just a couple of weeks. The past two years have really flown by, even though some days were long. I have grown a lot the past two years….grown up a lot too. I have heard having a kid will make that happen you know ;) The little things that used to bother me or get under my skin don’t bother me so much anymore. I’ve learned (and am still learning) to see beauty in the ordinary and mundane. In making countless toddler sized meals, listening to the Wiggles on repeat, and listening to conversations of mainly gibberish. I’ve learned to not have as high of expectations and to loosen up a little bit. This time we have before his little brother or sister comes, I’m taking to heart. Enjoying this time and spending the days with my favorite little guy…
“The ordinary acts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest.”
Jay took these pictures of us this weekend…Leland was mainly preoccupied with the apples & putting them in the basket :)

Beautiful as always Arielle. Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, “The greatest work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home.” – David O. McKay. Powerful. Sometimes it’s hard to see the whole picture while cutting up little peanut butter sandwiches or changing the fifth poopy diaper of the day, but it is truly the Lord’s work. Thanks for the reminder. Happy (early) Birthday Leland!

These are honestly gorgeous photos- beautiful moments captured between mama and son :) I’m so happy for you having another little bean- but am also so glad you’re soaking up this alone time with Leeland. It is incredible how they teach us and help us to recognize beauty in the “ordinary” isn’t it? Blessings to you!

I was just thinking about the day (that I greatly anticipate) when I become a momma and how my being “type A” is going to have to change a bit to have children. I am so encouraged by the growth in yourself that you have seen. It gives me fresh perspective that God is always growing and changing us into more of His likeness and “Love is patient” is one such characteristic to be grown in me more and more. Thanks for sharing!

Those words are really beautiful too. Just a good reminder not to be so uptight and get over the things that get under our skin. And appreciating the little things…that can never be emphasized enough! :)
God bless!

Very sweet post, thank you. You’re totally right in that kids will make you grow up :) I like what you’ve learned – not having such high expectations and learning to loosen up…especially when it comes to raising babies! I have a 4 month old girl and she’s the best thing that’s happened to me. She’s taught me to see the beauty in everyday, and cherish every moment I have with her. They go by way too fast.
